Why is it when you go on a range of internet forums and the topic of IQ
is raised there is a veritable plethora of people rushing to proclaim
IQs of 140/150/160+? It would probably be the same here if people were
asked . Has modern living created a society choc a bloc with
very/extremely intelligent people ? If so it would seem the Flynn
effect has been much greater than previously imagined.

no use giving them an 'iq test' and then telling them they're

not going to sell them your product like that!

There is a lot of evidence of Einstein dishonesty and plagiarism. Even
his famous equation E=mc² was published by someone else before him -
Olinto De Pretto in 1903.

Einstein's reputation is not derived from being the first to
write down particular equations, but from being the first to propound
coherent and axiomatic theories, based on elegant thought experiments,
from which those equations can be derived.

This is not an unusual way for science [inc maths] to develop.
Very few ideas come in a vacuum [tho' general relativity comes close].
The trick is to synthesise a jumble of facts into a unified whole,
from which those facts and many others follow.

What you say has some truth - apart from your praise for Einstein - but
is the very reason why unscrupulous scientists and engineers have been
able to steal and plagiarise the ideas of others - and Einstein is a
good example of this.

So was A G Bell, who did not invent the telephone. J L Baird, who did
not invent television. A Fleming, who did not discover penicillin. J
Watt, who did not invent the steam engine. T Edison, who did not invent
the electric light bulb - etc, etc, etc.

Stories of Einstein's dishonesty are legion.

It seems there were a lot of people busy not inventing anything :) . A
contentious one,of course, is who invented moving pictures.

A classic example of a blind pig stumbling across an acorn. De

assumptions. At least Einstein's version was derived rigorously from
first principles.

It's interesting to note that a lot of those who want to denounce
Einstein as a fraud are rabid anti-Semites.

This virulent anti-Semite goes as far as saying Einstein was a moron.

Of course the author of the piece is not bright enough to work out that
even if Einstein did plagiarise other people's work he couldn't have got
away with passing other people's efforts off as his own if he was a
'moron'. If he was a moron as suggested then he would soon have been
sussed.Or are some people willing to suggest that as a collective group
scientists past and present are as thick as pig shit?

Isn't it strange that when it is claimed that someone was/is less than
honest and that person happens to be Jewish, the accusation of
'anti-Semitism' is always brought out. Equally strange that such an
accusation is almost invariably accompanied by certain adjectives - such
as: 'rabid', 'vile', 'sickening' or 'virulent'.

Of course, I said similar - and equally truthful - things about
Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison, but they're not Jewish so
that's alright.

Be careful, 'Tim', your slip is showing.

Why is it when you go on  a range of internet forums and the topic
of IQ is raised there is  a veritable plethora of people rushing to
proclaim IQs of 140/150/160+? It  would probably be the same here if
people were asked . Has modern living created a society choc a bloc
with very/extremely intelligent people ?  If so it would seem the
Flynn effect has been much greater than previously imagined.
the modern advances all over the place have not happened      by
chance...
it is strange that flynn does not embrace the obvious       results
of the effect...a common difficulty among       scientists is an
inability to face the reality of the results       the get... part
of what makes a worker like einstein so great is facing       the
reality of the empiric results
Einstein was a fraud, like you.
Why was Einstein a fraud?
There is a lot of evidence of Einstein dishonesty and plagiarism. Even
his famous equation E=mc² was published by someone else before him -
Olinto De Pretto in 1903.
A classic example of a blind pig stumbling across an acorn. De Pretto's
equation was little more than an assertion based on bogus assumptions. At
least Einstein's version was derived rigorously from first principles.
It's interesting to note that a lot of those who want to denounce Einstein
as a fraud are rabid anti-Semites.
This virulent anti-Semite goes as far as saying Einstein was a moron.
https://www.davidreneke.com/was-albert-einstein-a-cheat-and-fraud/
Of course, I said similar - and equally truthful - things about Alexander
Graham Bell and Thomas Edison, but they're not Jewish so that's alright.
Be careful, 'Tim', your slip is showing.
I'd advise that he wears a longer skirt.
I bet if I wore a skirt you'd like to get your hands up it and have a feel.
I doubt I'd want to spare the time it would take to find anything.

But it seems that De Pretto published the equation in the magazine Atte
in 1903, and it was republished by the Royal Science Institute of Veneto
a short while later. Do you have evidence that this was not the case?

I don't think anyone denies that he was first to publish. However,
history has shown that while he fortuitously got the right answer, he
got it for all the wrong reasons. In effect, he added nothing to our
knowledge.

So, De Pretto published the equation in 1903 and Einstein copied it two
years later. That makes Einstein the genius and De Pretto of no account
- I see.
