Juncker speech: EU expansion, compulsory Euro, EU army, end of vetoes,
single European president.
Now, Remoaners and EU enthusiasts, justify that lot.
And he wants Ireland in the Schengen area too.
and how's he going to achieve that without a hard NI border?
Surely any idea of a soft border / no border is simply pie-in-the-sky?
Would / could the EU tolerate it?
The thing is the Irish want this as well
which is why it is so wrong for the EU to tell us that it's *our* problem to
I thought it was a joke as reported on the news. First, the EU wants,
allegedly, to solve the problem of the Irish border. (Note the ones
negotiating over the Irish border are the EU; the Irish themselves are
secondary. They have to make representations through the EU. And, worse,
they have to come to a view that is a composite of all 27. Ireland has
lost sovereignty just as we have/had.) Second, "no one", including the
EU, wants a hard border. Third, the British government comes up with a
plan which would keep the border invisible as at present. Fourth, the EU
finds that unacceptable as the EU "must" have hard borders. And fifth,
the EU has no alternative proposals but says it's a problem for the UK
All the EU has done on this is insert sticks in the wheels and say that
removing the sticks is someone else's problem.
Part of the cause of problem is the way the EU decided to "negotiate": a
haughty committee laid down impractical directives to an underling who
thereby has his hands tied and cannot negotiate properly.
Roll on Brexit day. Freedom will, by contrast, be so sweet!
