Discussion:
the end of work...cows that milk themselves...the end of work...

"About 5% of UK farms already use robotic milking, according to Liz
Snaith of the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers. But they
also constitute about 30% of all new milking systems being purchased.

Cows on such farms are essentially free to walk into one of the
milking robots' holding areas at any point of the day - except for the
occasional queue.

Once inside, they're identified by their tags. If the cow's been
milked too recently, an electronic gate leads it out. But if not, its
udders are brushed and cleaned before a laser pinpoints exactly where
to clamp the milk pumps, adjusting its grip to be as gentle as
possible."

####

next...
process the milk automatically and produce ice cream...

then send it to market by self-driving vans

and then onto customers...

untouched by human hand

and the old fogies and related luddites still believe that a citizen's
wage won't come...

i do also wonder how they hope to sell products to people who have
no traditional work

Your mate, not mine, Abe. After all, he did everything that you and your

such treachery in the process.

The only one here who needs treatment is you, my little usenet squatter.
Although most of your problems could be solved with an enema. One of
those and both you and your ailments would probably fit in a matchbox.

There is certainly an opportunity for labour in the world or sports, arts, hobbies etc. Work isn't entirely about making money, though life would be harder without it it would not be impossible. It's about achieving a goal.

On the flip side of this you could have a profitable business that is essentially legalised crime- out to rip off the customer, undervalue and exploit staff and have the political clout to be able to avoid paying the tax and other bureaucracy that honest businesses would have to. One of these rogue companies can through massive marketing budgets kill off several small, independent local businesses with knowledgeable and helpful staff and good relationships with their clients.
