Post by VidcapperPost by abelardPost by VidcapperAre you saying that however badly the Tories might govern, you'd still
prefer them to Labour?
certainly
but i'd rather see a real opposition to keep them sober or
to replace them for a few years if they start pratting
around like socialist johnny...
I'm intrigued as to whom you imagine that opposition would consist of,
given that only Labour has support widespread enough to defeat the
Tories in a GE (now & again).
a purely personal preference would be the/a liberal party...
Post by VidcapperPost by abelardand the palace coups of h***** and hague....
the tories fully deserved to be out of power....
Are you suggesting the Tories lost in 1997 because they weren't
right-wing enough?
strangely, i've never thought of it that way...but no...
the party was in chaos, controlled by spivs more driven
by ego than the interests of the country...
and into that vacuum came bliar...
neither party was fit to govern the uk...
bliar won in great part by tory absenteeism at the polls...
not by socialist merit...
the tory party is imv far more to blame as it in the nature
of socialism to do damage...the tory party should, and normally
does, have higher ethics and greater ability...
part of it is changing culture...the old nobs giving way to
a less deferential society...and tories without the depth
and breadth of necessary education
Post by VidcapperPost by abelardfortunately we now have 'probably the best pm since churchill'
Really? perhaps you could let me know his name, then? :p
Post by abelardthere's been a lot wrong with the party since the cambridge
mafia invaded with their leftist idiocies
But Burgess, McLean, Philby & Blunt were decades ago...
look up cambridge mafia...not cambridge spies/communists
