Discussion:
Tory conference and Tory lies
(too old to reply)

As the Conservative Party begins its conference against a backdrop of
self-created pure chaos, Boris has just made a pledge to spend 13 Billion
quid on building 40 new hospitals, doubtless the first of many uncosted
pledges to come over the next few days. Now, I’ve got a genuine question
for any Tory voters reading; do you actually believe these promises or do
you see them for the naked distractions and lies they clearly are? If the
latter, why do you persist in supporting these charlatans?

Do you have a question for non-Tory voters? Or do you assume they all think
as you do?

Actually I don't believe anything until it happens myself. There is no money
after all.
So unless we engage slave labour then the capitalist system as it currently
exists is just like a plant starved of water.

It is beyond belief.
I can only assume that as it works for Trump it will work for Boris,
and as with anything if you saturate the media with lies and
misinformation people become blinded. It only then needs someone to
point out the blatantly obvious such as Corbyn having to raise taxes
to start the howls of ridicule and hate.

Corbyn or Johnson, it makes no difference, taxes will have to be
raised to pay for Tory incompetence. Raised by a fair bit too, and
with business crippled by Brexit, the future is somewhat dire under
all projections.

Never mind, Javid and Boris are in a good frame of mind, it's givaway
time :-)

Sorry Rodders, sometimes I forget that there are none English speakers
using the NG.

Trump has got away with lies and false promises for his entire
presidency. Boris appears to think that emulating him is a key to
success.

Do try to keep up Rodders.

40 new hospitals? Brilliant idea. What's not to like?

Better than Labour's socialist nonsense about re-nationalising
everything, rapaying all student debt, unaffordable minimum wage and
putting everyone on a 4-day week.

And if you're interested in the costing of such proposals:

I am more interested in Labour pledges which are not costed and indeed are impossible to cost.

Pledges which involve the sequestration/stealing of private assets such as independent schools 'reforms' to inheritance tax which redirect more of the assets of the deceased to the state, Inhibitions to be placed upon land/asset transfers within families. Attitudes to Corporation tax and corporate taxation in particular.

this is just going to be the same money not extra money.
