Isn't school just a place to send your kids while you go to work? :-)
It takes the life you live beyond school to find out what you're good
at, I think. Unfortunately, by the time you find out, it's generally
too late.

For all parents, I think. I drop our lad off and go to work; others go
back to bed.

"Sir Ken Robinson makes an entertaining and profoundly moving case for creating an education system that nurtures (rather than undermines) creativity."

A worthy objective but unrelisable in our present cultural climate rotten with feminism antiracism and other forms of mind destroying censorhip and puritanism.
I note that neither Bertrand Russell nor Bulwer Lytton suffered conventioanl schooling.

I have hopes for my forthcoming book on Bulwer Lytton, though I don't expect to live to see its full impact.

Congratulations again on your rapier like wit.
Arguments attacking "antisemitism" are nearly always dishonst. They are part of a massive disinformation programme eager to employ every rhetorical trick it is thought might conceivably work on someone. There are sites instructing people how to do this. I have pointed out some in the past. When faced with someone capable of putting up a decent argument they draw back and resort to abuse, as you do. That is following the rules that can easily be applied even by very stupid people.

Where is my control freakery? I said if boys want dance they can have it. In my day we all loathed it. There was a class called "modern dance". We called it "modern torture". We despised it so much they dropped it and started taching us country dancing instead, We didn't like that either.

At my son's school twenty yeqrs ago one of the boys dressed up in a tutu and danced around to entertain the children and the (all female) teachers thought it was wonderful. From all I heard the kids found it merely embarassing. But there are efforts to change such attitudes. That's modern socialism isn't it?

"Sir Ken Robinson makes an entertaining and profoundly moving case
for creating an education system that nurtures (rather than
undermines) creativity."
A worthy objective but unrelisable in our present cultural climate
rotten with feminism antiracism and other forms of mind destroying
censorhip and puritanism. I note that neither Bertrand Russell nor
Bulwer Lytton suffered conventioanl schooling.
This was said about the US, but we have the same people in charge here:

"There's a reason that education sucks. And it's the same reason that
it will never ever, ever be fixed. It's never going to get any better.
Don't look for it. Be happy with what you got. Because the owners of
this country don't want that. I'm talking about the real owners now.
The real owners. The big, wealthy business interests that control
things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians.
The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have
freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice. You have owners. They
own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own
and control the corporations. They've long since bought and paid for
the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, and city halls. They got
the judges in their back pocket. And they own all the big media
companies so they control just about all of the news and information
you get to hear. They got you by the balls. They spend billions of
dollars every year lobbying, lobbying to get what they want. Well, we
know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for
everybody else.

"But I'll tell you what they don't want. They don't want a population
of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want
well-informed. well-educated people capable of critical thinking.
They're not interested in that. That doesn't help them. That's against
their interest. That's right. They don't want people who are smart
enough to sit around the kitchen table and figure out how badly they're
getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years
ago. They don't want that. You know what they want? They want obedient
workers. Obedient workers. People who are just smart enough to run the
machines and do the paperwork and just dumb enough to passively accept
all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer
hours, the reduced benefits."
