herd immunity is not a matter 85%
nor any other arbitrary number/percentage

herd immunity depends on the approximate crowding
of a herd(human group)

it is therefore lower in the country and higher in
the towns
and higher, the more crowded the towns

eg mass occupation of buildings increases the number
...eg beyond 85%

hence distancing

But natural infection will preferentially immunise the most dangerous
members of the herd. i.e. the least distanced are the most likely to
catch the disease as well as most likely to spread it.

That is why it is sensible to allow a high infection rate now.

It's a cool experiment. Let it rip now and we should have herd immunity
for winter (or a bit more resilience anyway).

Then Whitty can say to Boris:

the quicker the better

i think boris has long wanted to tend toward herd immunity
but snowflakes also have votes
and the old ones tend to use them!
