Afghan Refugees Find a Harsh and Unfriendly Border in Turkey
By Carlotta Gall, 8/23/21, NY Times
For President Erdogan of Turkey, the burden of hosting so many refugees —
3.6 million Syrians & over 300,000 Afghans, among others — has become a
burning political issue, esp. as the Turkish economy has worsened. He has
made clear he has no intention of opening the door to more Afghans.
Nah, he'll just threaten to redirect them towards the rest
of Europe when he doesn't get his way like a spoiled brat...

The Greeks put up a huge wall on their land border
with Turkey - it's nicer-looking than Trumps.

Face it, the EU is totally sick of "refugees" as well.
They have fueled a massive rise in the status of far-
right parties in Europe and the average Juan or Jaques
or Jens or John is now in the mood to just torpedo all
those boats floating in. Too much is too much. The
Islamics are their "Mexicans".

So, while you have to feel for those Afghans who HAD
to flee, the flip side is they're just ANOTHER mass
of refugees - and the global climate is against them.

So where DON'T they go ? No so much to Canada, despite
the policies. Not so much to central/south America,
definitely not to China or Russia.
