Fascism is still considered pretty much a Bad Thing, even though it's
the form of government in current use in the USA and, to a lesser
extent, in the UK.
That just leaves Communism, or else Starmer's entire political life
as a socialist has been meaningless.

Nearly. Communism insists on state ownership of production, Fascism just
wants control of production, socialism pretends to be practical while
it creeps towards Fascism and waits for an opportunity to implement
Communism.
Hitler and Mussolini gave Fascism a bad name, but it's less disastrous
than Communism.
Meanwhile, everyone complains that capitalism is failing, despite the
fact that nobody alive today in the West has ever seen it.
