And, in my case at least, clawed a significant chunk of it back
through increased income tax on my company pension.

I don't think any of us can legitimately complain about being liable to
pay income tax - as long as it's under the same rules which apply to
everyone else.

The current damnable lie from the Labour Party, though is that the
stolen Winter Fuel Allowance will be "more than made up for" by next
year's pension uprating.

It will absolutely NOT be.

The increase will be needed to cover the general rise in prices due to
government-forced inflation (which we can confidently expect to soar,
with all those 21% pay increases). We will still all be short of the
£200 or £300 WFA.

The point was made elsewhere that most pensioners have children, and
maybe grandchildren. They won't take kindly to the way their parents
are being treated by Labour, and they may well normally be Labour
voters.

Matt in the Telegraph said something like (in a cartoon featuring Robin
Hood and Friar Tuck) 'Robin, the people aren't happy about you robbing
pensioners and giving the money to the train drivers'.

Yes, I saw that.

A good point, well made.

What have the people got to do with it? The next lot can give themselves
a different name and continue following exactly the same policies. It's
not like we are give a practical way of electing something different.
